Nine Lives - All This Love EP

We've had Nine Lives on our radar since his 1985 EP stormed the Juno charts back in 2012. All This Love brings what we've come to expect from Nick Shaw, and a whole lot more. This could be a game changer for the Manchester producer. Fresh, funky and addictive. He's got it all here. Nine Lives has also reignited his allegiance with our favorites the Drop Out Orchestra...A fantastic DOO signature rework, taking the original and sweetly massaging it with some oiled up bass. Future Feelings come at us with an excellent club banger, that's sure to light up those floors this festive season - make no mistake! Get Down Edits appear on the EP with a stormer of an edit. They get down like nobody's business with a remix that plays better and better every time we play it here on the PA system!  

What  a great EP package - keep an eye on this one!

Rhythmic chopped stabs and deep disco beats are this week served up by Vendition, in the form of new signing Ash Reynolds. From what we can gather, Ash is no stranger to a set of turn tables, and with "Spend The Night" he definitely delivers some adept pulsing beats.

Russ Chimes - Turn Me Out (Release 20th May)

One of our picks for the summer this year is without doubt the new single from Russ Chimes, entitled Turn Me Out, which has been doing the rounds with Annie Mac and The Magician.

He first burst onto the scene in 2010 with his Midnight Club trilogy EP, which included an awesome three part music video saga you can catch out below. Musically wise he sits in between the likes of Alex Metric, Joe Goddard and Oliver, but you’ll also find him playing more underground cuts by Hackman, Dusky or BrEaCh.

Last year Russ was signed to the huge dance label Positiva last year, who during the 90s were responsible for putting out tunes by Kenny Dope, George Morel, Reel 2 Reel and Boris Dlugosch, as well as Deep Dish‘s chart hit Hello.

Daft Punk DISCO!!!

Now that we’ve heard like 15 seconds of Daft Punk’s new album, it’s totally fair to speculate what the album’s sound will encompass. And based on those 15 seconds, the two syllable answer is: Dis-Co. The lauded duo’s previous material–most notably Discovery–has always held heavy disco tendencies, and many of their tracks, like “Robot Rock,” directly sample the genre. The 15 seconds (no longer available online), while quite pleasing on the ears, were certainly a tease. Hell, the loop could’ve been attached to a name from Breakbot to Calvin Harris (“School” Calvin) attached to it and that wouldn’t be a shock. But being that this is the Daft Punk, well…let’s speculate.
So after hearing these entire disco-ish 15 seconds, combined with the knowledge that dico godfather’s Giorgio Moroder and Niles Rodgers loaned hand on the album, it’s safe to say speculate that Daft Punk is about to bring that Daft Funk.

In the mean time, someone’s already turned the 15 second clip into a remix!

A two track double header this time from the funky cat, out today on Vendition....Lovely Nu Disco rework....We love it. Nine Lives seems to know what music makes us feel good, and this EP is no exception. Just when you think you've heard the best tune of the night - 'Heart Break Move Shake' comes over the speakers and smacks you right in the chest! Impeccable timing by the label, being Valentines week....

Heart Break Move Shake sees Nine Lives taking a journey back in time with some inspiration from one of his favorite ever pop songs. Combining the retro vocal with snare slappin' drums and his familiar low down bass topped with uplifting synth's a plenty this will keep those sneakers stuck firmly to the dance floor  Cloud 9 is the second track on the EP, this time using some sweet vocal stabs over an 80s groove bassline with staccato keys keeping the thing moving. Thrown in an old skool drum break and we've got a down tempo number then you can play anytime anywhere. The first solo EP by Nine Lives is Love Hurts......now go listen.
